Great Thanksgiving Recipes!

So, we all know that everyone will be rushing around looking for items at the grocery store and preparing their Thanksgiving meals this week. So, I figured I'd put some really good-looking dish ideas here for anyone that might be interested. They sure look good! (Too bad I can't cook! :( )

Now, I'm not a big fan of sweet potatoes unless my mom makes them... but this recipe really sounds (and looks) tempting... compliments of Betty Crocker:

Cranberry Streusel Sweet Potatoes

Dotted with crimson cranberri
es, the streusel topping adds a crunchy touch to mashed sweet potatoes. All the sweetness comes from either the potatoes or cranberries, because no sugar is added.

Prep time: 15 mins.
Start to Finish: 1 hr 15 mins.
Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients:

6 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup soft b
read crumbs (1 slice)
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

1. Place sweet potatoes in 3-quart saucepan; add enough water to cover. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer covered 20 to 25 minutes or until tender; drain. Shake potatoes in saucepan over low heat to dry.

2. Heat oven to 350°F. Mash potatoes with 2 tablespoons butter and the salt until no lumps remain. Spoon into ungreased 1-quart casserole. Mix remaining ingredients; sprinkle over potatoes.

3. Bake uncovered about 30 minutes or until heated through and streusel mixture is golden brown.

Scarecrow Day!

Yay! Tomorrow is Scarecrow Day! Are the kids excited? I'm sure they are! I know Kadyn has been walking around saying, "I get candy on Friday!" I don't know who has told her that (certainly not me) but I don't think she has a clue what is going on. She also keeps telling me that she is supposed to be wear OLD clothes! "Mommy, I am supposed to wear an old shirt, an old hat and old pants; that is just what scarecrows do!" I don't know where she thinks we'll find OLD clothes for her to wear but I was just wondering if you all have been lucky enough to find things for their outfits/costumes tomorrow??

I will be trekking out tonight on my search to finalize her outfit. Yes, I'm last minute sometimes! If anyone needs suggestions, if you too procrastinate, please send me an email and I will try to help!

I think (and hope) that tomorrow's party will be a lot of fun. Although I know it will be! I wanted to say thanks to my parents that are helping make this party fun for the kids. Parents who were not involved in the planning of this party... please don't forget, YOU ARE allowed to come to the party TOO! So, please come and have fun with us!! We'll see you all tomorrow...
